Speedway GP season kicks off in Germany with Bewley, Lindgren & Holder headlining

Published On:: 01/05/2026

This just in… Dan Bewley scores 13 points to lead Team Great Britain to 1st place in Friday’s Speedway World Cup Qualifier

Monster Energy, partner and official energy drink of FIM Speedway Grand Prix since 2011, introduced its 2026 SGP team today as the tape’s about to rise on the SGP’s season-opener with the running of the WWK Schwaiger & Partner FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut, today.

Monster Energy’s ‘Fast Four’ SGP racers for 2026 include returning speedway stars Dan Bewley (Great Britain), Freddie Lindgren (Sweden) and Jack Holder (Australia), along with former world No. 2-ranked and defending Speedway European Championship overall champ Patryk Dudek (Poland).

Beginning with Monster Energy’s top SGP placer in 2025, Bewley was the lone M-claw helmet on the overall season podium – placing 3rd with 142 points. Bewley raced to six finals  in 2025 SGP competition (out of ten rounds), the highlight coming with a hometown victory at the Round 4 Speedway GP of Great Britain – Manchester.

Bewley: “Really looking forward to this weekend. First round of the GP series, get that underway. And Team GP’s on Friday, which is a nice bit of practice for the start of the GP season.”

Coming in eight points back of Bewley in 4th position in the SGP season standing was Lindgren. The veteran speedway star made the finals in five of the ten rounds last season, highlighted by a couple runner-up finishes at Round 3 (Prague, Czechia) and Round 8 (Riga, Latvia).

...

Lindgren: “Extremely excited for the 2026 Speedway Grand Prix season to start. You know, you’re always hopeful at the beginning of the year I feel that I worked extremely hard in the winter time and my fitness is great. We also did a lot of work with the equipment in preseason and I feel that the equipment has definitely improved since last year. I want to challenge for the world title. It’s my lifelong dream to become the world champion – and that’s what I’m aiming for.”

Rounding out the top five in the overall SGP scoring last season was Holder with 118 points. The Aussie would make four finals on the season, with a victory highlight coming at one of the biggest races of the year, the Speedway GP of Poland – Warsaw.

...

Holder: “I’m really excited for the weekend, the nerves and all that at Round 1, always exciting. Got a bit of experience under my belt now, so I’m looking forward to it. Everything’s going according to plan with at the start of the season so far, bikes and training. Let’s get off to a good start for the championship and be in the title hunt!”

For Dudek, the route to qualifying for this year’s SGP season would go through the Speedway European Championship, where he shined brightly, winning the overall title by capturing three round wins (out of four) and topping Latvian Andzejs Lebedevs, 56-48.

...

Dudek: “This weekend we begin the fight for the world championship. I'm happy to be returning to the SGP to ride with the best riders and fight for the top trophy. We have a long season ahead of us, so I hope we'll be satisfied at the end of the season. I don't want to talk about goals, but I definitely hope to complete it injury-free.”

As noted, Bewley would score 13 points for Team Great Britain, which won Friday’s Speedway World Cup Event 1 Qualifier with 39 points over 20 heats.

“The World Cup is my absolute favorite event as a GP rider,” added Bewley. “So to do it this year in Warsaw will be pretty special. So I’m really thankful to have gotten off to a good start on Friday – and hopefully today’s momentum leads into great results on Saturday at the first round.”
