Standout day at SGP season opener in Germany ends in 2nd place finish for Monster Energy’s Dan Bewley
After leading Team Great Britain to the SWC qualifier win on Friday, Bewley runs perfect in 15-point heat effort leading into Landshut finals
Monster Energy’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix ace Dan Bewley (Great Britain) opened the 2026 competition season on a high note, winning all five of his qualifying heat races at the Landshut track to make the Final (with one race to spare), then scored the silver medal in the weekend’s final race.
Bewley’s maximum 15-point effort in the heats, coupled with his three points from the main event, made for an impressive 18-point weekend and matched his 18-point result from last year at Landshut. He did, however, come up one point short of a perfect weekend – aka the Speedway GP maximum.

“I’ve been on a roll, but came up one point short,” said a slightly dejected Bewley after the race. “We were right there. Pretty good racing in the finals. Felt really good all day. Track wasn’t the best as people were saying, but I quite enjoyed it to be honest. Lot of fun out there, even though I might not have showed it on the podium.
“If you got a good bike, you sort of just twist the throttle. Thanks to the boys in the pits. The bike was obviously good. Let’s keep it rolling.”

On Friday Bewley would score 13 points for Team Great Britain, which won Friday’s Speedway World Cup Event No. 1 Qualifier with 39 points over 20 heats – and qualified Bewley and his countryman teammates for the Aug. 29th Speedway World Championships, the 2026 BOLL FIM Speedway World Cup Final – Warsaw.
“The World Cup is my absolute favorite event as a GP rider,” added Bewley. “So to do it this year in Warsaw will be pretty special. So I’m really thankful to have gotten off to a good start on Friday – and hopefully today’s momentum leads into great results on Saturday at the first round.”
Rounding out the top ten in scoring at Landshut for Monster Energy was Freddie Lindgren (Sweden) in 5th position, Poland’s Patryk Dudek in 7th and Australia’s Jack Holder in 8th.
