Budapest Goes Gold: Lando Norris and Monster Energy Take Over Hungary

Published On:: 27/07/2026

Budapest hit another level during Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. While Lando Norris delivered a statement victory at the Hungaroring, the limited-edition Monster Energy Lando Gold can was taking over the capital. From the circuit to the city streets, Hungary became a full-throttle celebration of speed, style and Monster Energy culture.

Norris arrived in Budapest with momentum. One week earlier at Spa, a 10-place grid penalty had dropped the reigning Formula 1 World Champion to P13, but he battled through the field to finish seventh and showed that McLaren had the pace for something bigger.

In Hungary, he delivered. McLaren arrived with a major upgrade package for the MCL40, including a new floor and aerodynamic developments designed for high-downforce circuits like the Hungaroring. The impact was immediate, with Norris putting the car on pole position.

Oscar Piastri made an electric start on Sunday, passing his teammate at Turn 2 and setting up an intense fight between the two McLarens. A papaya one-two looked possible as Norris stayed close, managed his tyres and waited for the race to come to him.

The turning point arrived during the second round of pit stops. While Piastri was delayed in traffic and made contact with Carlos Sainz’s Williams, Norris had clear track and unleashed the pace of the upgraded MCL40.

He extended his stint, delivered the lap times and took control of the strategy before passing Kimi Antonelli for the lead on Lap 46. Piastri fought back into second, but his challenge ended on Lap 56 when a gearbox failure forced him to stop. It was a brutal conclusion to a weekend in which he had shown the speed to fight for victory.

At the front, Norris never looked back. He crossed the line more than 15 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen, with Antonelli completing the podium. It was Norris’s first victory of the 2026 season, his 12th Formula 1 win and his second consecutive triumph at the Hungaroring.

While Norris was turning the circuit papaya and gold, Monster Energy was taking that same energy into the heart of Budapest. From Friday to Sunday, the Monster Convoy rolled through the city with three Monster trucks, the Circus Trial Tour truck and Piskolty Kevin’s drift car. Escorted through the capital, the convoy hit 12 iconic locations over three days, transforming each stop into a live showcase of motorsport, action sports and Monster Energy attitude.

Fans got their hands on the limited-edition Monster Energy Lando Gold and Original Piastri cans, met the Monster Girls and checked out a replica of Norris’s unmistakable race helmet.

Then came the action. The Circus Trial Tour brought gravity-defying performances, Ádám Kun delivered world-class BMX flatland riding and Piskolty Kevin filled the streets with tyre smoke and the sound of his drift machine.

The Grand Prix atmosphere was no longer confined to the circuit. Monster Energy brought it directly into Budapest. And the timing could not have been better. As Lando Gold took over the city, the man on the can delivered gold on the racetrack. What started as a limited-edition product launch became part of the defining story of the weekend.
