Marco is another of Valentino Rossi’s projects for the VR46 Academy and has the distinction of victory in Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP by his mid-20s. ‘Bezz’ did not have to go far to join the set-up based at Tavulia as he comes from the Adriatic region that is also home to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. He made an impression in his first full Grand Prix campaign in Moto3, taking a podium finish in Japan. He would add nine more trophies the next season but decided his style and career path was better suited to the intermediate Moto2 class. Marco again learned fast, won in his second term and carved a reputation for being able to exploit the hard nature of the single-make tires and both preserve speed and adapt to the demands of the circuit and varying race scenarios. Through the VR46 structure he was a clear candidate for a MotoGP saddle in 2022 and seized his chance to become Rookie of the year and grab another podium appearance as a debutant and while steering an older Ducati. Bezzecchi clearly forged a solid bond with the most competitive manufacturer on the grid and added wins to his scorecard in 2023 on his way to 3rd in the standings but could not progress in 2024 while trying to tame the next version of the Desmosedici. The situation caused some reflection and the quietly spoken but happy-go-lucky racer opted to step out of the VR46 team framework for the factory Aprilia hotseat next to former bitter rival and 2024 MotoGP world champ Jorge Martin for 2025. Engaging, sarcastic, focused and extremely skilled; Bezz is a potent and lively MotoGP cast character.
