Ventura (1st), Docherty (2nd) and Campbell (3rd) sweep W2RC Rallye du Maro Rally2 class overall podium
2026 W2RC OLA Energy Rallye du Maroc is in the books… Monster Energy’s Brabec adds a podium 3rd place finish in the RallyGP class with Stage 5 win on Saturday
That prideful glowing green hue atop the 2026 OLA Energy Rallye du Maroc Rally2 class podium highlighted a fantastic week of off-road motorcycle racing in the heart of the Sahara Desert as Monster Energy’s Martim Ventura (Honda HRC Rally), Michael Docherty (Hero Motosports) and Preston Campbell (Honda HRC Rally) swept the top three positions in the class featuring the world’s top young, up-and-coming FIM World Rally-Raid Championship racers.
For his part, Ventura was nearly unbeatable all week, winning four of the five stages enroute to topping 2nd place Docherty by more than a half hour (30:45) for the win.
“A good week. The rhythm was there. But, to be honest, I have a lot to improve,” said the introspective Ventura, who increased his overall Rally2 class season championship points lead over KTM’s Toni Mulec to 18 points (94-78). “I’m happy, but I know at the same time I know I failed a bit. When you ride faster, the navigation has to be quicker. So, there’s some work we have to do. But also, I have to be happy. And not just for me, for the team.”

The 2nd place finish for Docherty was made more impressive in that he’s had a very finite amount of time to prepare on the Hero 450 Rally bike, and a team he just recently joined prior to this week’s W2RC race in Morocco.
“It’s been a challenging week and I’m happy to be here at the finish of the Rallye du Maroc,” said Docherty. “Lot of experiences out there. Learned a lot. I’m really grateful to the Hero Motosports team. Been quite a big change for me over the past couple months and I’m really happy to be here with these guys.”

Added Campbell: “Last year was my first time here, and the experience I gained throughout this year helped a lot this week. I don’t think I could have done it without a year of training. To perform and push, and to be tough throughout the whole race, all the kilometers, was just a great experience on the bike.”

In the premier RallyGP division, Monster Energy’s lone overall podium would come with a great 3rd place overall effort from Ricky Brabec (Honda HRC Rally). Brabec would step up and win the final Stage 5 to secure the overall podium finish. And in doing so, moved to 4th place in the W2RC overall RallyGP points chase with 70 points, and within four points of 2nd and 3rd place overall (tie between KTM’s Luciano Benevides and Brabec’s Monster Energy/Honda HRC Rally teammate, Tosha Schareina).
“The week was cool, although a little bit difficult,” said Brabec. “A couple roadbook mistakes, a couple navigational mistakes… a lot of broken ground. Overall, the week was pretty demanding. So it’s good to walk away, head home in one piece, healthy. I’m happy with the bike and the changes we made for the final day. I think now we’re going in a good direction… go home and prepare for the Dakar.”

Joining Brabec on the Stage 5 podium was Schareina.
“Finally here on the finish line of the Rallye du Maroc,” said Schareina, who ended up a disappointing 6th place overall on the week. “It’s not the Rallye du Maroc we wanted or expected, but it’s part of the game. This is the first time in two years I am not on the (du Maroc) podium, but we have learned so much about the bike and I’m happy with my last days here at the rally.”
Scoring ten W2RC RallyGP points at the du Maroc, Schareina is now in a tie for 2nd place in the overall standings with Benavides (each with 74 points on the season).

Notes & Quotes
- “This week was like unlocking that feeling of ‘OK, I belong here.’” – Ventura
- Ventura was on top of his game for the fifth and final stage of the du Maroc. So much so that his time was 3rd out of all the Monster Energy/Honda HRC Rally team racers only behind RallyGP’s Brabec and Schareina, but ahead of Van Beveren, “Nacho” Cornejo (Hero) and Skyler Howes (ZXMoto).
- Should Ventura win the title following the upcoming (Nov. 22-27) Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, FIM W2RC rules state that he must move up to the RallyGP class. Ventura leads KTM’s Toni Mulec by 18 points (94-78) for the Rally2 overall title.
- “Keep working. Clean up all the mistakes I’ve had this past week and get ready for the next rally – and Dakar. - Docherty
- “It was a great experience on the bike. In the desert you see things that you may never see again.” – Campbell
- “Overall, I’m happy. Unfortunately, the stage today (Stage 5) was a little bit short, so I wasn’t able to make much of an overall push all day. The times were tight. But it’s cool to battle with these guys.” – Brabec
- “It’s been a tough stage. Navigation was tricky. I tried to do my best. Tried to stay on my wheels because it was also dangerous on the day. Towards the end I did a small navigation mistake, but it’s part of it. Many years of rally on my shoulders now, but still learning many things.” – Monster Energy/Honda HRC Rally’s Adrien Van Beveren
- Monster Energy’s Sara Price (Defender) and her navigator, Sean Berriman, would place 4th overall in the du Maroc Stock Car class. Price and Berriman had a positive start to the contest, actually leading up to Stage 3, but an unfortunate incident with a rock and a coolant leak (which led to a major engine issue) would spell disaster for the team.
