Cole Davies Sweeps the Indy 250 ESX Triple Crown
Monster Energy’s Cole Davies dominates with a perfect 1‑1‑1 in Indianapolis; Webb returns to the 450 podium and Hammaker locks in another 250 top‑three.
The much-talked-about Monster Energy AMA Supercross sophomore out of New Zealand, running the M-claw logo with the Star Racing/Yamaha team, finally put together an evening that backed all the behind-the-scenes chatter of how ‘Unbelievably fast this kid is,’ as Cole Davies swept the Indianapolis Triple Crown at Lucas Oil Stadium, going 1-1-1 for the win and sole possession of the 250 Eastern Region (ESX) overall series points lead.
Three rounds into the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250 ESX series and there’s already three different winners – and all Monster Energy backed racers - as Davies joins teammate Pierce Brown (Arlington ESX) and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Seth Hammaker (Daytona ESX) in the Monster Energy 250 sweep thus far. And those three also make up the overall 250 ESX podium on the season this year with Davies in 1st (64 points), Hammaker in 2nd (63) and Brown in 3rd position (62).

Back to racing, Davies was absolutely unstoppable on the night, dominating the whoop section like no other 250 racer, and racing near flawlessly through the remaining portions of the track to lock down the three Triple Crown main event wins ahead of 2nd place Joe Shimoda (Honda) and Hammaker in 3rd.
“It’s a bit of a relief to get this win,” said Davies. “I’ve been too antsy the first couple weeks, but everything’s settled in now. I’ve let the race come to me and I’m happy with my riding. So it’s a good win.”
Hammaker was right there with Shimoda for 2nd overall on the night, but a crash in Race 2 relegated Hammaker to a 9th place race finish. Hammaker would go 3-9-2 for 3rd, while Shimoda stayed upright for a 2-2-3 run to 2nd place. Rounding out the top ten in the Indy 250 Triple Crown was Brown in 5th position (10-3-4) whereas Nate Thrasher (Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha) would place 10th (5-11-11).

On the 450s Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s defending Monster Energy AMA Supercross champion, Cooper Webb, got back on the podium with a 3rd place run at Indy (4-3-4) . Webb’s podium effort, along with Ken Roczen’s (Suzuki) 5th place run, would allow Webb to bump past Roczen and back on the overall series podium chase in 3rd. Webb now leads Roczen by three points, 171-168. Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Justin Cooper, who won Race 2 at Indy, would check in right behind Webb in 4th position (5-1-5) to round out the top five in scoring for Monster Energy.

Notes & Quotes
- “If you don’t like what you’re seeing right here, you’re not going to like the next two races. Man… he absolutely dominated.” – NBC announcer Ricky Carmichael on Davies’ opening race win.
- Last season, at the Glendale (Calif.) Triple Crown, Davies won the first two races, then crashed in the third to lose the overall win. Said Davies of the poetic justice in winning the Indy Triple Crown: “Just tried to stay grounded, humble, going into the last race. Learned from last year and got some redemption this year.”
- “The biggest advantage he had was in the whoops. And all the other sections of the track just complimented the advantage he had in the whoops.” – Carmichael on Davies.
- “I went axe throwing last night. And that precision led to the win.” – Davies joked at the press conference.
- “Bouncing back from Race 2, getting 2nd place (in Race 3) in order to get on the podium overall,” said Hammaker of the key to making the Indy 250 ESX podium. “I was definitely frustrated with myself in that crash in the whoops. Still rode good after I got up, but you just can’t put yourself back like that – especially on the opening lap.”
- Hammaker would actually go from last place to the top ten (9th) in Race 2, which should have earned him the Hard Charger award for that race.
- “I should be closer to the lead, really. Quiet night for me. My starts weren’t that good. Those top two (Hunter Lawrence & Eli Tomac) were on tonight.” – Webb on his Indy main event.
- For the record… the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Triple Crown stops feature three main event races (per class) that are 10 minutes long, plus one lap.
