Lando Norris Crowned 2025 World Champion

: 12/8/2025

“This is not my World Championship, this is ours”

We proudly celebrate the monumental achievement of Lando Norris clinching the 2025 Formula 1 Drivers’ World Championship, becoming the 11th British driver to claim the crown and McLaren’s first World Champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2008. This marks a historic moment for Norris, McLaren, and Monster Energy, as the 26-year-old driver completes a season of dominance and resilience.

After crossing the finish line in third place at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – the result he needed to seal the title – an emotional Norris reflected on his journey:

“I've not cried in a while! I didn't think I'd cry, but I did. It's a long journey… First of all, I want to say a big thanks to everyone at McLaren and to my parents. My Mum, my Dad – they’re the ones who supported me since the beginning.”

Norris entered the season finale 12 points clear of reigning champion Max Verstappen and held off fierce competition from teammate Oscar Piastri and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to secure the championship. His calm, calculated drive under immense pressure capped off a spectacular campaign.

The 2025 season saw Norris claim seven Grand Prix victories, including landmark wins in Australia, Monaco, and his home race at Silverstone. He also recorded 18 podium finishes – the most ever by a McLaren driver in a single season – and seven pole positions. These achievements earned him the title of McLaren’s 13th World Champion and the 35th in Formula 1 history.

Lando’s journey began in karting at age seven, where his raw talent quickly propelled him through the ranks. He dominated junior categories, winning the 2016 Formula Renault 2.0 Championship and the 2017 FIA Formula 3 European Championship, before finishing runner-up in Formula 2 in 2018. Joining McLaren’s Driver Development Programme in 2017, Norris became the team’s youngest-ever F1 driver in 2019 and has since grown into its most experienced, with 151 Grand Prix starts.

Norris’ triumph marks McLaren’s first Drivers’ Championship in 17 years and follows back-to-back Constructors’ titles in 2024 and 2025. He joins an elite group of McLaren champions, including Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen, and Lewis Hamilton.

As Norris celebrates this career-defining moment, he remains focused on the future:

“It’s been a long journey with McLaren,” Norris said. “I’ve been with them for nine years, through crazy, difficult times and plenty of good times. To bring something back to them… it’s their first Drivers’ title in many years, and I’m proud of everyone. This is not my World Championship, this is ours.

We are proud to stand alongside Lando Norris as he enters the next chapter of his journey whilst inspiring fans worldwide.
