Haiden Deegan Wins Millville MX, Jeremy Martin Steals the Show in Emotional Career Finale

Published On: 7/14/2025

Monster Energy/Star Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan takes the overall win, but it’s Jeremy Martin’s unforgettable farewell at Spring Creek that captures hearts.

In a race weekend packed with emotion and elite-level motocross, Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan claimed the overall win at Spring Creek MX Park. But it was teammate Jeremy Martin who stole the spotlight with a storybook ending to his legendary career.

Racing at the track his parents, John and Greta Martin, have owned for nearly four decades, Jeremy Martin delivered a stunning 3-1 moto finish to take second overall—behind only Deegan’s 1-2—and close out his professional career in front of a roaring hometown crowd in Millville, Minnesota.

It was a fairy tale kind of ending to my career,” said Martin. “Just an honor to be able to battle with these guys. I was good, back in my day. But these guys are really good now.

Deegan, who continues to dominate the 250 class, was quick to return the respect:

He’s raced a lot of badass dudes on a dirt bike. So for him to say that’s awesome.

...

Also making waves in the 250 class was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Garrett Marchbanks, who finished 5th and moved into a tie for 3rd in the overall standings with teammate Levi Kitchen.

In the 450 class, Monster Energy riders faced a rare off day, with Eli Tomac (7th), Jorge Prado (9th), and Justin Cooper (10th) all finishing outside the top five. However, Tomac’s performance helped him close the gap to just one point behind Cooper in the overall standings, setting up a thrilling battle for the final podium spot.

Notes & Quotes

  • “I used these tall starting blocks and hit the middle of the gate. I was all over the place,” said Martin. “Took a break, got everything better, and you know, what a dream day, really.”
  • Martin would pull the holeshot in Moto 1, which sent the locals into hysteria as the local boy led the race early, before Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Seth Hammaker grabbed the lead.
  • “Age is just a number, clearly for him. To go out and dig like that in the second moto, I’ll be honest, I sprinted for him with like five laps to go, but after that I was like ‘It’s all yours. I’ve got nothing left in the tank.’” – Deegan on his second moto battle with Martin.
  • With his unbelievable performance on Saturday, and considering he’s had extremely limited time (five days) of training on the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha YZ250F, Martin was asked if he’d consider racing again? “I knew that question would come,” he said. “I’m content. I’ve accepted it. … But getting on top of the box. Winning. That high. That’s what we all chase every Saturday. It’s like a drug. And it consumes you. But I’m ready for Chapter 2 in my life.”
  • “Salute ‘em. Have a beer. Go try other things in life.” – Martin continued.
  • Martin’s 3rd place podium finish in Moto 1 was his 90th career moto podium.
  • “I was laid up on the couch the whole week. I touched the bike just once, on Thursday, just to do some starts. It was a pain. Not even worth it.” – Deegan on recovering from his leg injury suffered at RedBud last weekend.
  • Not to be lost in the, rightfully so, Martin celebration, Deegan engaged in one of the season’s best battles thus far with rival and No. 2 overall 250 points racer Jo Shimoda (Honda). “The pain is what it is. It was hurting, but I locked in and couldn’t let Shimoda beat me.”
