Triple Crown opens in Wroclaw, Poland, with Brady Kurtz taking the early lead

Published On: 6/21/2026

Australian Kurtz sits atop the Monster Energy Triple Crown heat score chart with 12 points; Monster’s Holder crashes in Heat 7, hospitalized

The new and unique Monster Energy Triple Crown got underway at Round 5 of FIM Speedway Grand Prix – the DEWALT FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Wroclaw – this past weekend and Brady Kurtz walked away with the opening Monster Energy Triple Crown victory as the Australia scored an event high 12 points through his five heat races.

Based off the early (pre-1995) days of the FIM Speedway World Final, Monster Energy’s Triple Crown mirrors the time where racers competed over five straight races in a single day – with no semifinals or final – for the title of World Final champion. The “World Final era,” as more old school speedway fans call it, has, in essence, been revived through Monster Energy’s Triple Crown, which also includes the fans attending SGP events who can test their speedway start reaction time skills on a simulator set in Monster Energy’s ‘Fan Zone’ near the Monster Energy Rig.

“We hit all the marks,” said Monster Energy’s Joe Parsons on the inaugural Monster Energy Triple Crown at Wroclaw. “Few minor tweaks here and there and we’ll be ready for the second Triple Crown round at Lodz (Poland, Aug. 1).”

Fans testing their starting skills at the Monster Energy Triple Crown reaction simulator can battle each other for the right to compete in the final showdown at Marian Rose Motoarena in Torun (Poland), with the overall winner on the season earning a trip to a world-class weekend, courtesy of Monster Energy, of motorsport in Valencia this November.

On the race track at Wroclaw’s Olympic Stadium, wild weather would delay Saturday’s main event by three hours as the normal 7 p.m. start time didn’t take place until 10 p.m. But with beer flowing and plenty of sausages being grilled up, the hearty SGP fans remained and, once the local fire department de-watered the pits and the electricity ‘magically’ came back on right before the first ribbon raise start, the Wroclaw event went off without issue with Bartosz Zmarzlik scoring his 30th career SGP victory to take the overall series points lead away from Kurtz, 82-79.

Unfortunately for Monster Energy SGP racers, who’ve been riddled with injuries this season, top points placer Jack Holder suffered a crash in Heat 7 and injured his upper arm – which will require surgery in the coming days. This puts Holder on the sideline with Monster Energy’s Dan Bewley (leg, back), Fredrik Lindgren (ankle) and Tai Woffinden (various) – leaving Patryk Dudek as the lone Monster Energy racer in the SGP starting gate. Dudek would come away from Wroclaw with 11 points (6th place in the race, 4th in the Monster Energy Triple Crown scoring with eight points), which puts him in the overall SGP top ten (9th) standings with 40 points on the season.
