Obed Padilla of Oceanside, California is a Chicano singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who is always telling an authentically unique story. With cultural roots from Mexico to Costa Rica and musical influences like the Beach Boys and Kanye, Obed can only be described as the epitome of Latin Alternative music. Crediting his musical upbringing to his father and playing in his church, Padilla recalls, "I haven't known a lot of preachers who listened to Santana, but my pops pulled off both."
Late last summer Obed established himself as an artist on the rise with the success of the social media only releases of “Brown & Down Freestyle”, “Chicano Poetry”, “A Love Story”, and “Meek Shall InheritThe Earth.” Each one had its own viral moment amassing 5M+ views in aggregate. This gave Obed the momentum he needed to be featured on the Gary Vee Podcast, invited to Austin City Limits, and write songs with some of the most decorated songwriters and producers on the planet. Obed has also collaborated with brands like Facebook, Doritos, and Modello.
His current single entitled “Nothing I Can Do” is just the tip of the iceberg. “Cigarettes and Lipstick” featuring Eddie Zukko was released in September along with two more singles “Yoga & Cocaine” and “The Moon”. Obed is excited to continue to grow as a latin alternative artist and tell stories about people who look like him.
