He began his desert racing career aboard motorcycles and was a member of the Factory Husqvarna Off Road team from 1999 to 2005. In 2015, Matt transitioned to UTV desert racing and became a member of a factory team in 2017. Since starting to race in the Best In The Desert and SCORE racing series, Matt has made a steady climb to the top in the Pro UTV ranks.

Leading Monster Energy on this final stage of the 2025 Dakar Rally were Sara Price (Can-Am Factory Team), who won her second-straight SSV stage, and Adrien Van Beveren (Honda HRC Rally), who placed 2nd in the motorcycle class.
