James Burton “J.B.” Mauney is an iconic example of the resilience and guts it takes to be a cowboy. Starting his career with the Professional Bull Riding Inc. in 2006, the North Carolina native has become a legend in the world of bull riding. He was named Rookie of the Year in 2007 and clinched the World Champion title in 2013. Mauney is known to be bold and unflinching, often choosing to ride the most dangerous and aggressive bulls in the arena. In addition, he is one of only two bull riders to have managed to withstand the full eight seconds on Bushwacker during the Built Ford Tough Series. Despite being injured multiple times throughout his career, Mauney has always made a solid comeback. In 2015, he suffered a horrific compound fracture in his left leg, but returned to the saddle just a few months after undergoing surgery. In 2023, Mauney was ranked No. 9 among the top 30 bull riders in PBR history. "If you are going to be the best, you've got to ride the best," he once said.
