Ethan Ewing Wins the 2026 Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro

Published On: 5/4/2026

From a slow start to a hometown statement. Ethan Ewing storms Snapper Rocks to win the 2026 Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro, locking in a clutch victory just minutes from where it all began. Now 4th in the world—and heating up.

In the first contest of the year, Ethan Ewing lost his first heat and found himself a few scrolls down the page of the WSL CT rankings. Not a place he’s familiar with or fond of.

He improved at stop No. 2, Margaret River, reaching the quarterfinals and skipping up to 13th in the world. An improvement, but still not in the top 10.

The third event of the season was the Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro at Snapper Rocks, just a short distance from where Ethan grew up. The water was warm, the waves were pumping, and Ethan’s hometown crew was there to cheer him on. He didn’t squander the opportunity.

...

The Queensland local blitzed through opponent after opponent, posting heat totals in the mid-to-high teens with precision rail work, explosive tail blows and even the occasional tube. His peak moment came in the dying minutes of his semifinal heat against Liam O’Brien, where he needed a big score on his final wave, and weaved his way through a deep inside tube for a 9-point ride. Clutch.

The waves were slow in his final against Connor O’Leary, but Ethan managed to maintain his momentum and defeat Connor, 14.56 to 14.17.

Ethan now sits 4th in the world. That feels better.

Congrats, Ethan!
