Gabriel Medina powered into the Margaret River final and emerged with the WSL ratings lead and the yellow jersey.
Margaret River was a strong contest for the Monster team, with 5 of the 8 quarter-finalists sporting the Green Claw (Yago Dora, Joel Vaughan, Ethan Ewing, Crosby Colapinto and Gabriel Medina). But it was Medina that made it all the way to the final, combining his aggressive heat strategy with consistent power and flair. Big turns. Big airs. Big scores. And while Medina ultimately came up short against Aussie George Pittar in the last heat of the day — largely due to questionable call from the priority judges — he walks away with the season’s ratings lead and the yellow jersey.
