Monster Energy’s Webb & Deegan Sweep Houston Triple Crown Supercross

Published On:: 2026/02/03

Cooper Webb and Haiden Deegan powered Monster Energy to a Houston Triple Crown sweep, with Webb taking his first win of 2026 and Deegan dominating 250 WSX.

Another rostrum top spot sweep for Monster Energy racers on the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross tour as Star Racing/Yamaha teammates Cooper Webb and Haiden Deegan raced to Triple Crown victories at Round 4 of the series held at Houston’s NRG Stadium.

Beginning with Webb, the defending Monster Energy AMA Supercross premier 450 class champion, who was mired back in 5thplace overall in the standings following the series’ first three rounds (7th/Anaheim 1, 8th/San Diego and 5th/Anaheim II), a 4th place finish in the first race of this year’s opening Triple Crown format would be followed up with two podium finishes (2nd & 3rd), giving him 9 points and the overall victory in Saturday’s main event(s).

...

Said Webb: “It’s been an emotional month for sure. You get to three bad weekends in a row and it can take a toll on you. Tonight is just the complete opposite. I feel like a kid again… just to have that feeling of winning. And, obviously, I didn’t win a main event. Which is a little unique. But I’ll take it any way I can get it.”

...

Rounding out the 450 classes top ten in scoring for Monster Energy racers at Houston were Kawasaki’s Chase Sexton in 5th(2nd/9th/6th), Suzuki’s Jason Anderson in 6th (6th/7th/5th) and Webb’s teammate, Justin Cooper, in 9th (9th/4th/12th).

The 250 WSX class effort by Deegan was even more impressive, given the difficulty of winning not one main event – but three straight – on the evening (first time Deegan’s ever done that). Deegan would win in perfect form, topping the qualifying sessions as well as winning every gate drop on the night. Monster Energy would be well represented across the Houston 250 podium as Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen had his best race of the season for 2nd place, with teammate Cameron McAdoo right behind him in 3rd position to complete the podium sweep.

...

Deegan “Yeah, I’m happy I could better my starts today. Holeshot the first race, then had two around the top three (starts). It’s nice to know I can get to the lead quickly like that, because what I’m really known for is those late-race charges. Just try to ride smooth. ‘Mistakeless.’ That’s my goal. To just put perfect laps down."

...

Rounding out the top ten in the 250 class for Monster Energy were Star Racing/Yamaha’s Max Anstie in 6th (10th/6th/2nd) and Michael Mosiman in 8th (4th/14th/8th).

...

Finally, at the second round of SMX Next racing, Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Caden Dudney took the overall victory, winning the 11-lap main event by 1.533 seconds over Triumph’s Deacon Denno. 3rd place went to Dudney’s teammate, Landen Gordon.

Notes & Quotes

  • “We still have work to do, but it’s a breath of fresh air and a boost of confidence. It’s just good to be back on top.” – Webb on his Houston win.
  • “Anything keeps me focused. That’s just a little addition I’ve had since I was born.” – Deegan, when asked by NBC Sports’ Dan Beaver, if the trash talking he does keeps him more focused.
  • “Aggressive is pretty much my middle name at this point.” Deegan, on a roll, when asked by Peacock Network’s Jason Thomas about his highly competitive racing with Kitchen.
  • In the opening 450 race, Webb found himself sailing off the track, which nearly sent him out of contention for the overall win. Fortunately, Webb was able to rip back onto the track and into 6th position (moving up to 4th at race’s end).
  • The second 450 race would have Sexton, who placed 2nd in the opening 450 race, finding himself on the ground with 1:30 on the clock. The crash cost Sexton, who won the previous round at Anaheim 2, a chance at the overall Houston podium.
  • McAdoo would holeshot the second Houston 250 moto, giving (along with Deegan’s opening moto holeshot) Monster Energy racers two of the three class holeshots.
  • Deegan’s three wins came by an average margin of 2.264 seconds (2.052 seconds in Race 1, 3.988 in Race 2 and 1.354 in Race 3).
  • “I just kind of rode with the west coast group.” – Dudney, who hails from Texas, on one of the key elements to his success at Houston.

Up next: This weekend (Feb. 7) the Monster Energy AMA Supercross tour lands in Glendale, Ariz., at State Farm Stadium - home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals – for Round 5 of the 17-round series.
