Monster Energy’s Sexton & Davies Sweep Salt Lake City Supercross Finale

Published On:: 2026/05/11

Monster Energy’s Chase Sexton (450) and Cole Davies (250) celebrate main event victories at the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season finale inside Rice‑Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.

The 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season, built up over 16 rounds of unbelievable racing action, came to a most outstanding crescendo on the floor of Salt Lake City’s Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday with Monster Energy racers Chase Sexton (Kawasaki) and Cole Davies (Star Racing/Yamaha) capturing victories in the 450 and 250 class Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Showdown in front of a sold out crowd – putting a glowing green bow on the 52nd running of the world’s premier dirt bike racing series.

...

Starting with the 250s, the much-anticipated third meeting between the 250 Eastern Region (ESX) champion – Davies – and the sport’s most talked about racer, Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan, gave fans at Rice-Eccles and tuning in around the world on the NBC Sports network a main event battle of the ages as the two champs went bar-to-bar in a flat out brawl to the finish line.

“I gave it everything I had and it was good fun,” said Davies. “Cat and mouse, back and forth. I had fun and I think he (Deegan) did, too.”

“It’s racing. I run into him, he hits me… it’s cool,” added Deegan.

2nd place behind Davies would go to ESX runner-up Levi Kitchen (Pro Circuit/Kawasaki), who steered clear of the carnage and raced clean, coming in 2.445 seconds back of the winner. And rounding out the 250 class podium at Rice-Eccles with an excellent race, including the early lead, was Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Max Anstie. Deegan would eventually crash his way off the podium (in pursuit of Davies), but remounted to place 4th. Rounding out the top ten in scoring for Monster Energy at the Dave Coombs Sr. 250 East/West Showdown was rookie Landen Gordon (Star Racing/Yamaha), placing a solid 9th.

...

On the 450s, Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Sexton would win his second main event of the year – and fourth straight at Rice-Eccles – in topping 2nd place Justin Cooper (Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha) by 2.096 seconds in the Monster Energy 1-2 finish of the season’s final race.

“It was a crazy race. Track was very gnarly, sketchy,” said Sexton. “I haven’t been riding really bad… just haven’t had a lot of comfort. And today I said; ‘Don’t touch the bike.’ Other than a few (suspension) clicks for the whoops, no shock off (adjustment), no fork off. I’m just going to ride what I have – and it seemed to work out pretty well.”

2nd place behind Sexton would go to Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Justin Cooper. “It was, obviously, a struggle at the beginning. A lot of chaos in the middle of the pack,” he said. “As the race went on I just kept my pace, and trusted that it would bring me somewhat to the front.”

Just a click off the 450 podium was defending Monster Energy AMA Supercross champion Cooper Webb (Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha) who placed 4th, followed by Monster Energy’s Justin Hill (Tedder/KTM) in 6th position to round out the top ten M-claw scoring.

Notes & Quotes

  • “I almost forgot what it’s like to do a press conference to be honest. This is only my third time this year. It’s no secret that it’s been a trying year for me and also the team. So to get this win… it means a lot.” – Sexton
  • “Stoked for Kenny.” – added Sexton on Suzuki’s Ken Roczen winning the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450 class title over Honda’s Hunter Lawrence.
  • “That’s a great question. And that’s exactly what I need to do to start next season.” – Cooper, when asked on how the can parlay his strong finish this season to the start of the 2027 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season.
  • “I didn’t get off to a great start. The pressure was off, so I could ride full out.” – Davies
  • “I’ve got to give it up to Cole – that was a dogfight.” – Deegan
  • “Since moving to America my main focus has been learning supercross. Figuring out whoops, and how to excel at that. Because that’s kind of the dream.” – Anstie
  • Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s high scoring tandem of Cameron McAdoo and Seth Hammaker saw their 250 class main event come to a crashing end in the whoop section when both were involved in separate accidents on the same lap/same section.
  • Monster Energy’s U.S. dirt bike racers take a short break here before returning to action for the start of the Outdoor Nationals series. And the big news, of course, is Deegan moving up to the 450 class to challenge defending champ Honda’s Jett Lawrence for the title.
